This plant looks great under realy decent lights. With T5HO the top of the leaves become a dark rusty auburn all crinkly and provide a great contrast to Crinum calamistratum, which is why I'm back to buy more of each.
I have these plants on low tech also but I changed the bulbs to those new GLO kind and put mylar on the lights for relection and added a 3rd cool white alongside. Then the balsanae finally took off.

C balansae was very slow to get established but it's a lovely plant that looks great planted in a group. It likes more light than other crypts and needs stable tank parameters as it has a tendency to melt if the conditions change abruptly. I have it growing well in a tank with a soil layer and about 2.5 wpg.
