Give this plant some light and it grows faster and real tall, really gorgeous. I seperated the clump and have one here and there really adding it's wonderful maroon color among the green. Put one in a shadier spot and it stays shorter. I even had to move a 10 inch tall one to another tank and it handled the move just fine. No C02, NPT but more than average light.

This is just a great crypt - easy AND lovely!
When this plant is happy, it can achieve a beautiful rich burgandy-plum tone with faint mottling on the leaves, even in moderate lighting. And its SO easy to keep it happy! I find its taller than the other wendtii varieties, and think it would make a nice focal point for a nano tank. This plant is tough, too! It can withstand a variety of water conditions and still look great. A little patience is needed as it isn't the fastest growing plant out there (what crypt is?) but you'll be rewarded with those gorgeous burgandy mature leaves - slightly undulated at the edges... an underappreciated beauty!
I grow this in a low-tech NPT with a soil underlayer, and it thrives.
